Exports of 2018 are expected to reach 3,4 billion USD

The National Agricultural Extension Center said Vietnam's cashew nut exports this year are expected to reach 3.4 billion USD. Production is estimated at 354,800 tons, an increase of 77.82% compared to 2017. According to the General Department of Customs, cashew exports in the first 15 days of December reached 15,800 tons, worth 128.35 million USD, volume and value decreased by 2.4% and 0.5% respectively compared to the first 15 days of November.

Accumulated until December 15, the export of this item reached 355,600 tons, worth 3.22 billion USD, up 5.4% in volume but decreased by 4.1% in value compared to the same period last year.

In the first 15 days of December, the price of exported cashew nuts reached an average of 8,109 USD / ton, up 2% compared to the first half of November, but still decreased by 20.7% compared to the same period in 2017. Accumulated from the beginning of the year recorded an average export price of 9,061 USD / ton, down 9% compared to the same period in 2017.

The National Agricultural Extension Center said Vietnam's cashew nut exports are expected to reach US $ 3.4 billion.
As reported by the Department of Crop Production, the cashew growing area in the country tends to decrease continuously from 440,000 ha (in 2007) to 290,000 ha (in 2015). Area of ​​cashew trees in 2017 showed signs of recovery and reached 297,500 hectares. Expected in 2018, the area of ​​cashew will be 302,100 ha, the area for harvesting is 283,800 ha.

In 2017, cashew yield reached 7.5 quintals / ha and is expected to increase to 12.5 quintal / ha in 2018. Production is estimated at 354,800 tons, an increase of 77.82% compared to 2017.

However, the National Agricultural Extension Center said that input materials for cashew processing plants are always short and must import raw cashew nuts annually from other countries due to the perennial crop area of ​​old trees (accounting for 60%). for low productivity.

On the other hand, due to unfavorable weather, epidemic outbreaks affect productivity and quality of cashew nuts such as anthracnose, tea mosquito bugs, stem borers.
